HARBOUR BEAT WEATHER
Wednesday's shaping up to be the nicest day yet — a mix of sun and cloud with a summery high near 25°C. It turns breezy, though: south winds gusting up to 50 km/h in the afternoon, and a very-high UV index of 8, so pack the sunscreen. Cloudy overnight with a 60% chance of showers and a low around 12°C. Full hourly forecast at Environment Canada.

City pitches Canada Games Complex upgrades

The City is seeking federal and provincial funding to upgrade the Canada Games Complex — improvements that would let it host more swimming, diving, and squash events. Applications are due by the end of June.
New recreation trails on track to open this year

Good news for the outdoorsy: the city's new recreation trails are slated to be finished this year, adding fresh routes for walking, biking, and exploring around Thunder Bay.
A pop-up clinic helps 350+ local pets

A pop-up veterinary clinic delivered essential care to more than 350 pets, easing the squeeze from Thunder Bay's vet shortage — and sending a lot of tails home wagging.
Community Living workers walk off the job

After more than a year pushing for better funding, Community Living Thunder Bay support workers are on strike — affecting services for people with developmental disabilities across the city.
Indigenous Community

Marking National Indigenous History Month
June is National Indigenous History Month — a time to honour the cultures, contributions, and stories of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. In Thunder Bay, watch for celebrations building toward National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21.
One to mark on the calendar: the Pride Powwow on Saturday, June 13 at 150 Grandview Road, hosted by Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek with the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre — all are welcome. For more events and programs, visit the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre.
Meme of the Day

Thunder Bay summer rule #1: Lake Superior is “refreshing” (read: 4°C) until at least August.
