HARBOUR BEAT WEATHER
Saturday's shaping up like a proper summer day — mainly cloudy to start with morning fog burning off, then a high near 25°C (humidex 28) and a strong UV index of 7, so grab the sunscreen for the Pride Festival. No rain in the forecast, and it turns clear and cool overnight, dropping to about 8°C. Hourly details at Environment Canada.

800+ graduates cross the stage at Confederation College

More than 800 students crossed the stage at Confederation College's convocation on Friday — and many are staying right here. New dental hygienists, practical nurses and social-service workers told reporters they've already lined up jobs across the city, from local clinics to St. Joseph's Care Group and the Ontario Native Women's Association.
Have your say on the Central Avenue development plan

The city wants your input on a big vision for the Central Avenue lands between Golf Links Road and Balmoral Street: up to 1,260 new homes plus commercial and community space across 100 acres, backed by $19.5M in provincial funding. Fill out the survey online, at City Hall, or at any library branch before June 19.
Roads and flooding take over the Neebing ward meeting

About 26 south-end residents packed the West Arthur Community Centre on Wednesday to press city staff on Arthur Street construction delays, traffic backups and chronic culvert flooding. Officials pointed to tight operating budgets but promised neighbourhood site visits to take a closer look.
Border Cats erupt for 10 in the first to bury the Loggers

The Border Cats snapped a four-game skid in style Thursday at Port Arthur Stadium, hanging a 10-spot on league-leading La Crosse in the very first inning. Dante Smith cleared the bases twice and finished with six RBI in a 13–4 rout.
